POLO Alerts

Is a worldwide "Missing Persons" app designed to give its users the ability to generate a detailed missing persons "Report" for the general public using their mobile phones.

This app was designed primarily because, according to the National Crime Information Centers figures, over 600,000 people are reported missing each year in the United States alone. However, for no reported reason, there remains a huge discrepancy in how many of these "Missing Persons reports" are presented to the general public in any form.

We realize that even in the largest cities around the world, they lack the resources necessary to devote their full attention in reporting/resolving each and everyone of these cases.

Therefore, we thought it necessary to create an app that would allow the general public to both upload and then quickly access a central database of missing individuals. A listing created for and by the individuals mostly affected by the disappearance of a loved one.

So now any individual wishing to add a "Report" to this database, can simply download POLO Alerts on their phone. And then follow the simple instructions describing just how to upload a report in about 3 minutes time.

To confirm that your information was posted correctly in the database, simply press the corresponding icon related to your alert.

NEEDLESS TO SAY, IN ORDER TO INCREASE OUR CHANCES OF LOCATING THESE MISSING INDIVIDUALS, WE NEED EVERYONES HELP.

***IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND***
This application will not send out what is known as Push Notifications to each user for the following reasons.

After field testing this application with literately dozens of individuals, who all found it to be extremely useful. Weve come to realize that based on the statistics, meaning the number of missing person reports filed each day, approximately 1700. These same individuals stated that they would more than likely disable the push notification feature on the app because of the high volume.

Surprisingly however, they felt the same way about the silent notifications, meaning the number of unread messages that you would see indicated next to the icon of most chat, email, and phone message apps. They indicated that they would be just as overwhelmed, if each time they went to view the app, they noticed that there were hundreds if not thousands of new posting.

And so for those reasons, we decided that push notifications will not be enabled at this point.

We therefore encourage each user, to view the apps content as often as you check your emails, text, or search the web etc.

Also bear in mind that this application was not designed for the purpose of sending out a call to all of its potential users to mass together in order to form search parties. No, POLO Alerts was designed simply to give individuals who are searching for their loved ones a means by which they can keep the general public informed. Because unfortunately, statistics prove that literally hundreds of thousands of individuals who are reported missing, never find their way on the local news or in newspapers.

POLO Alerts, is simply an active "database" that should not be confused or associated with anything else. We also want to encourage our users to be diligent while paying attention to these uploaded reports, in hopes that one day you might be the one making that all-important call.

Finally, if you post what you truly believe to be a legitimate POLO Alert "Report" and then realize it was a false alarm, dont worry about that. Simply go back into the system and post a resolution alert "Report".
